The Neil Deal announces two new members of the band who bring amazing talent to the show. Up front and stage right with Dennis is Steve 'Doc' Patt, multi instrumentalist & vocalist playing guitars, mandolin, pedal steel & more; bringing a truely authentic 'Harvest' sound to the group. Doc will be with the band on ocassion as he is in high demand. Mike Blumburg joins as as our 'goto guy' guitarist along with Dennis. Kicking out the rhythm section with bassist Bruce Spiegel is pro touring drummer Dave Haddad who not only charges the beat but also has the finesse for the softer side of Neil Young's music.

Summmer, summer. We've had a fantastic year so far, our tour to Canada in the Spring was just fantastic, made lots of new friends & brought Neil's music to lots of fans. Our concert at Lake Arrowhead was a first time for us and was a blast. All's good with the Neil Deal, like everyone else, some on diets, some working out a bit more, some new guitars & adding new songs all the time.

We return to Hermosa Beach CA for the huge Fiesta Hermosa with a Labor Day Sunday Brunch FREE concert on Sunday Sept. 6 where we'll do our longest show of the year including lots of Neil's acoustic music, just 100 feet from the beach. (& possibly recording our next LIVE CD!). The groups reviews have been great this year,too. The band is looking to perform at more 'Concerts In The Park' in the coming year, so if you know of one that you'd like to bring us to, get in touch. People seem to hire the same Beatle, Stones or Zep group each year and are completely blown away at the popularity of the Neil Young music library (as we perform it!!) great for family events, since we cover his music from the 60's to the present & perform lovely acoustic songs like Heart of Gold to wild & kickin' Rockin' In The Free World with blazing guitar solos by Denny & Jim.

The New Year is off to a fast start & there's some great plans coming up for the Neil Deal. The line up remains the same with Dennis Neil as Neil Young, Jim Altman, guitars, Bruce Spiegel (yea, me! myspace.com/brucebass) on bass & Bonzo Bert Wolf on drums. We'll be doing more large festivals this year Look for dates in Sherman Oaks Calif., Lake Arrowhead & more.

Negotiations are nearly finished to bring the Neil Deal tribute to Neil Young to Canada for our first time. As you know, Neil Young was born in Canada & has lived in California most of his life & we're really excited to bring our show to Edmonton in March. Just for our blog readers, it's been a few years since our last CD Live in Hollywood, we're working on a new CD for release later this year featuring all new music by The Neil Deal. Fourth of July in Santa Fe Station Casino in Las Vegas, great venue with a great staff & engineers. Following an UNREAL fireworks show from the hotel roof, THE NEIL DEAL, launched into a 90 min set of Neil Young's music. Great crowd, some new & some 'old' friends, we look forward to getting back to ya'll in the near future. For Vegas locals, the Station Casino's are fantastic entertainment centers that have everything from music venues, movie theatres, bowling alleys, lounges & restaurants and gaming all in one place. We're so jealous, since we don't have any local place like that to go here in Los Angeles.

Happy Valentines Day to all, The Neil Deal kicked off February with a great show last night at Harpers in Northridge, capacity crowds!! Our friends The Long Run opened the show with a great set of Eagles music. Fans all enjoyed the pairing of the two bands, so we'll be looking for other dates & venues to bring our music on out.
Compliment of the night was when a fellow musician came up to Denny (Neil Young) and said that we used the backing tracks for vocals in a great way. Interesting since all vocals are live & no backing tracks are used at all. He said, really???? You guys have fantastic live harmony. Now that's a nice compliment.

Thanks to all who came to our Sept. show in Harpers, we'll be back there on Nov 9, Friday for our last local public show of the year. The group has been doing many corporate gigs & private parties for 50 55 & 60 year old die hard awesome Neil Young fans, so much fun!!!
Our good friend Tony Kaye (keyboards, founding member of YES) has been busy this year launching his new project CIRCA, a fantastic prog rock group with Billy Sherwood, Alan White & Jimmy Haun, so our keyboards are being played by bassist, Bruce Spiegel, who's been doubling there. We also featured guitarist Jim Altman on Trombone, very versatile guys, The Neil Deal, tribute to Neil Young. The group is adding more acoustic numbers & is available to do openings for national acts with a great acoustic Neil Young tribute with Dennis Neil as Neil Young on guitar & harmonica.

Rockin' summer so far, the Band's Vegas Shows were a huge success, though it was hot as hell that night. We performed outdoors at 102 degrees at 9pm. Whew & the stage lights. Great crowd and lots of great Neil Young Fans.

We have been doing some great parties for Neil Young fans this year, what a great surprise for those who had no idea that "Neil" was doing a private concert for their friends.

We'll be returning to Ventura County in August/September 8/18 at The Drink in Ventura & then for a fantastic Classic Rock Show at the Ojai Libbey Ampitheatre on Labor Day weekend 9/2. For more info www.howardpresents.com

Happy New Year to all, 2005 ended on a very exciting note as Denny, Bert & I accepted the award for Top Tribute Band in Southern California by Rock City News Magazine at an awards show in Universal City in December, our thanks to all of our fans who voted & made that possible.

For those in the local North Los Angeles area, The Neil Deal played the newly remodeled Canyon Club in Agoura Hills on 10/7. This is a great venue, great staff & xlnt food, Bruce & Bert flipped over the chicken w/capers! This was a last minute appearance for the band, as we filled in for another group that had to do a last minute cancellation. Thanks to all who came to our shows in Simi Valley & San Bernardino this week. We've shot new footage for a DVD we're working on so keep your eyes open for that. Special thanks to the staff at Route 66 Rendezvous for a great setting for our Saturday nite show. It was a great thrill to have Scott Hofferber join us on stage to do the French Horn solo in After The Gold Rush. This was the first time first time performing this arrangement live with Tony Kaye now playing keyboards with the group & three part harmonies from Dennis, Jim & Bruce. What a great crowd out there people of all ages & description who love Neil Young's music and enjoy the tribute that the Neil Deal performs. Great vocal work by Dennis Neil as usual in his portrayal of Neil Young. This event gave us the chance to perform several songs we don't do very often, so it was extra fun for us too. Bert Wolf on drums kept the crowd going all the way through our THIRD encore, that was followed by fireworks!! San Bernardino sure does it up right.

Our hearts, thoughts & prayers go out to the Gulf Coast folks affected by Hurricane Katrina this past week. We'll be looking at various ways we can help with the relief efforts as I'm sure you will.

The Neil Deal quintet, now featuring Jim Altman on guitar & Tony Kaye on keyboards is in rehearsal for new material & arrangements that will be in our shows shortly. In September we'll be performing at Simi Valley Days, a great local festival with a special evening of all top tribute bands including Santana, Hendrix & Zeppelin. We're also returning to San Bernardino to heat up America's largest "Crusin' Car Event" Saturday nite with a show at the Route 66 Rendezvous (we'll be shooting a new DVD that night, so come & get in on the act!

We're anxious to hear Neil Young's latest release coming out soon, maybe around his birthday & always look to add new material to our show, especially when requested by our fans.

The Neil Deal, America's Top Tribute to the music of Neil Young performed on Sunday 6/26 in Santa Monica in front of a capacity crowd at the Santa Monica Main Street Soulstice event. Joining us for this show was our friends Tony Kaye on Keys & Jim Altman on guitar. After a bit of some challenges with the sound system & having lead singer (Neil Young in the group) Dennis Neil stopped & started by the PA dying, we had the show mgmt show up with some extra equipment & the band continued for a solid 1.5 hr set without a break.
Beautiful Santa Monica weather & a fantastic audience that seemed to know the words as good (in some cases better) than we did, made for a great afternoon. There's something special about Neil Young's music. Maybe it's the lyrics, maybe the melody or a combo of all of them that brings people together. One of the people in the audience was just enjoying the show a lot & afterwards came up to me to say "Thank You" for really taking him on a trip through his memories of those years in the 1960's & 1970's.
Zeda Spiegel, who was taking care of our mailing list & cd sales, was approached by one enthusiastic fan who came to her & said, I CAN'T BELIEVE IT, NEIL YOUNG IS PLAYING HERE, OH MY GOD !!!!!. Just another day in the life of The Neil Deal, not the real deal, but the next best thing if you love Neil Young's music!!

The NoHo Theatre Arts Festival was a great event. Nearly 1.25 miles long with something for everyone & a very special set by The Neil Deal, who were followed by The Platters. This particular show was extra special due to our friend Tony Kaye (Yes, Badfinger, Christopher Cross) joining us on Keyboards. No doubt, the first weekend of summer in SoCal, temperatures in the 90's, but people having a great time. Bert Wolf was exploding on his new maple drum kit & all led by Dennis Neil's incredible portrayal of Neil Young.

Spring has certainly come to Southern California, we want to thank everyone who came to see us do a full acoustic & electric long set at the Sherman Oaks Spring Festival. Gorgeous sunny day.

Playing lots of private parties this summer all over SoCal, and played Club Lingerie for our first time & had Joe Fiorello, sound engineer from House of Blues Sunset do a great sound job for us. As a matter of fact, we recorded live that nite & will be releasing our first CD, called LIVE IN HOLLYWOOD in the next few weeks. Thanks to all who came out to the "unplugged" show at The Coach House in SJCapistrano, great venue, great staff & great crowd. We're doing a few private parties this summer which we're able to get a bit more intimate with the crowd & have some fun.
A recent party in Thousand Oaks, CA had one Neil Young fan come up to the group afterwards & tell us he's seen Neil 17 times in concert & that once we started our first song he was pinned to the wall & just enjoyed the Neil Deal song selection & performance.
It's really cool getting emails from all over the states asking for tour dates. No plans of yet, still looking for the right management & production team.

It does constantly amaze us to meet so many great fans of Neil Young's music. Hats off to the sound crew at 14 Below, Brit does a great job & all who attended felt it sounded great. The club let us do an encore, very unusual for one of the local clubs.

One of the exciting things for the band is to meet so many incredible Neil Young fans. We get a different perspective from the stage, seeing you all singing along with the songs, some guys knowing the guitar riffs by heart (air guitar), and getting up on your feet dancing to the songs that grab you.

Welcome! Whether you're a Neil fan of his acoustic classics or the Crazy Horse rock n roll, we'd like to introduce ourselves. We're a high quality rock group called The Neil Deal, who perform at tribute to NY&CH. You need to know that we're all huge Neil Young fans & put our hearts & souls into recreating his great music for you. We've mostly performed around the western states & are based in the San Fernando Valley, not far from where Neil did a lot of recording while he lived in nearby Tujunga. Check us out at www.neildeal.com. We've recently played venues like House of Blues, BB Kings & SoHo in Santa Barbara. This summer will be at many major festivals as well as clubs. As musicians, we're all "seasoned" (still fresh, though) musicians. Our lead singer/guitarist is Dennis Neil, who does fantastic "Neil" voice, looks & performance. Mr. Vic Herstein on guitar, Bert Wolf on drums & (me) Bruce Spiegel on bass. We'll keep our calendar up to date & we'll see you soon.
